PUBLIC NOTICE REGARDING STATUS OF BANKRUPTCY COURT OPERATIONS DURING COVID-19 OUTBREAK

CLERK OPERATIONS:
Filings will continue to be processed via the Case Management/Electronic Case Filings (CM/ECF) system and by mail.  The Bankruptcy Clerk’s office in both Wheeling and Clarksburg are open by appointment only by calling 304-233-1655.

COURT OPERATIONS:

Effectively immediately, all in-person court appearances are suspended until further notice or unless specifically directed otherwise.  All attorneys shall advise their clients that they, and parties proceeding pro se, SHALL NOT appear at a courthouse within the district for a hearing until further notice or unless specifically directed otherwise.  All trials and evidentiary hearings currently scheduled will be rescheduled as necessary.

Consistent with its historical practice, however, the Court WILL CONVENE all non-evidentiary hearings by telephone.  The procedures published by the Court and located at https://www.wvnb.uscourts.gov/news/us-bankruptcy-court-northern-district-west-virginia-best-practices-telephonic-hearings shall be followed.   Parties seeking a continuance of any scheduled matter shall file a written motion with the Court.
